Chapter I General Provisions
Article 1 The Lumbini International Buddhist Studies Center appoints researchers (including associate researchers, the same below) with the original intention of being open to all sectors of the international community. The purpose is to promote the high-quality development of Buddhist studies in different countries and regions, accelerate the theoretical and practical research on Buddhism in countries around the world, with a focus on Asia and including the United States and Europe, build a high-level research team combining full-time and part-time researchers, and further enhance the research level and international reputation of the Lumbini International Buddhist Studies Center.
Article 2 In order to standardize the appointment and management of researchers and protect their legitimate rights and interests, these measures are hereby formulated.
Chapter II Appointment Procedures and Conditions
Article 3 The appointment of researchers shall be carried out through the procedures of voluntary application and selection by the Center. The researcher himself/herself shall fill in the “Appointment Form for Researchers of the Lumbini International Buddhist Studies Center” in writing. The Center will organize experts to conduct the selection, determine the list of researchers, submit it to the director in charge of the Center for approval, and issue the “Letter of Appointment as a Researcher” to the proposed appointee. The initial appointment term is 5 years. Upon the expiration of the appointment term, with the researcher’s report to the Center, the appointment can be automatically renewed.
Article 4 Conditions for the appointment of researchers
1. Have a high research level and academic influence.
2. Have a comprehensive research on the history, sects, doctrines, scriptures, culture, art, etc. of Buddhism, as well as the current situation of Buddhism in various countries, or have in-depth research and relevant writings in a certain related field.
3. Love the Buddhist cause and be willing to contribute wisdom and strength to the development of the Lumbini International Buddhist Studies Center.
4. Be in good health, have excellent moral character, a rigorous work style, and a proper academic style.
Article 5 After the expiration of the researcher’s term of office, he/she will leave the position naturally. In case of the following circumstances, the researcher shall be dismissed:
5. Not meeting the appointment conditions described in Article 4.
6. Having academic misconduct and being publicly notified and criticized.
7. Violating the relevant regulations of the Center.
Chapter III Rights and Obligations
Article 6 Rights of researchers
1. Have priority in using various resources of the Center, undertaking relevant research projects established by the Center, or participating in external cooperation projects.
2. Have priority in participating in various academic exchange activities held by the Center.
3. Enjoy the Center’s sponsorship to participate in international academic exchange activities.
4. Relevant scientific research achievements can apply for the Center’s sponsorship, rewards, publication, or publication of monographs.
Article 7 Obligations of researchers
5. Provide consultation and guidance for the construction and development of the Center, and recommend partners or cooperation projects.
6. Participate in the research work of major scientific research projects of the Center.
7. Participate in relevant academic exchange activities arranged by the Center in the name of a researcher of the Center.
8. It is encouraged that relevant excellent academic papers, monographs, awards, etc. funded by the Center use the Lumbini International Buddhist Studies Center as the first authoring unit.
9. Participate in the teaching work of the training courses of the Center or the teaching and management work of the Lumbini International Buddhist College on a paid basis.
Chapter IV Incentive Measures
Article 8 Papers related to Buddhist studies with the Lumbini International Buddhist Studies Center as the first authoring unit shall be rewarded according to the standards of the Center’s scientific research performance achievement allowances.
Article 9 Monographs on Buddhist studies can apply for partial or full sponsorship, and be rewarded according to the relevant regulations of the “Interim Measures for the Management of Scientific Research Performance Achievement Allowances of the Lumbini International Buddhist Studies Center”.
Chapter V Supplementary Provisions
Article 10 These measures shall be interpreted by the Lumbini International Buddhist Studies Center.
Article 11 These measures shall come into force as of the date of promulgation.
