Professor Xie Zhibin

Associate Professor Xie Zhibin is affiliated with the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies at Northwest University. He concurrently holds positions in several academic institutions. His research focuses on South Asian issues, interreligious dialogue, and Buddhist culture. He graduated from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 2011, and later obtained a Master’s degree in Philosophy and a Ph.D. in History from Northwest University. Since 2019, he has been engaged in postdoctoral research as a faculty member. He has traveled to multiple countries for academic research and fieldwork. He has published over 20 academic papers and authored three monographs. He has led several national and provincial scientific research projects and has been awarded the Shaanxi Province Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award. He has long maintained a column in the Religious Weekly of China Ethnic News and has served as a main lecturer on CCTV’s Science and Education Channel on multiple occasions.

  • Authored three monographs, including “A Study on the Early Guanyin Statues in China”.
  • Led one project each from the National Social Science Fund for Young Scholars, the Sub – project of the National Social Science Fund for Major Projects, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, the Shaanxi Provincial Social Science Project, and the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education Innovation Team Project.
  • Received one award for Outstanding Achievement in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Shaanxi Province.
  • Maintained a column in the “Religious Weekly” of the “China Ethnic News” published by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission for several years.

  • Professor Yue Yu

    Professor Yue Yu is a professor and director of the Institute of Religious Sculptural Art at Northwest University, Chief Artist of the Silk Road Research Institute, and director of the Yue Yu Buddhist Art Museum. He is also a director of the Chinese Association for the Study of Religions. As a backpacker, he has conducted field research and artistic experiences in religious sculptural art across 156 countries. His works fully embody the essence of Chinese traditional culture. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Buddhist sculptural art, he was awarded the “World Buddhist Outstanding Leader Award” and an honorary doctoral degree by the World Fellowship of Buddhists in 2016.
